Sidrería Usabal is a traditional Basque cider house, established more than 14 years ago. Its superb facilities can seat up to three hundred and fifty guests, who can enjoy pouring their own cider directly from any of the eleven Kupelas or large barrels placed around the cider house, at any time of year.

A festive atmosphere can always be found at the Sidrería Usabal during the numerous events celebrated here, such as the famous Tolosa carnivals or the acclaimed Feria de la Txuleta  - steak festival. However, at any time of year, a midday or evening meal in a typical Basque cider house is unquestionably a unique experience. The basic difference between a cider house and conventional restaurant is the atmosphere, which is far more relaxed and informal.

At the inauguration of the cider season, when the Kupelas are first opened to drink the cider (a ritual called Txotx), guests gather round the barrels for on-the-spot tasting and lengthy discussions. These are often started by the cider maker himself when he asks for their opinion with regard to the colour, aroma and taste of his cider, and this then leads on to further conversations on matters of general interest.

In all, everyone has a thoroughly enjoyable time tasting good food and cider.

Sidrería Usabal offers a typical cider house menu consisting in salt-cod omelette, salt-cod with peppers, steak and, for dessert: cheese, walnuts and sweet apple compote, all served with top-quality cider.
